1.1 This Cookie Policy explains how First Homes Asset Development & Allied Services Limited (also known as FirstHomes Africa) ("FirstHomes Africa", "we" or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at www.firsthomes.io, our web services and the FirstHomes Africa mobile app (together, the "Platform").
1.2 It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
2. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are
- Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember you and your choices.
- Local storage lets a website or app store small amounts of information on your device.
- Software development kits (SDKs) are pieces of code from service providers built into our mobile app, for example to send notifications or report crashes.
- Device identifiers and push tokens allow us to send notifications to your device and recognise it securely.
- Pixels or tags are small pieces of code that tell a provider when a page has been viewed or an action taken.
2.1 In this Policy, "cookies" refers to all of these technologies unless we say otherwise.
3. Our Approach to Consent
- Strictly necessary cookies are used without consent because the Platform cannot work safely without them.
- All other cookies (functional, analytics and marketing) are off by default and used only with your consent.
- No non-essential cookies are set before you make a choice.
- Rejecting non-essential cookies is as easy as accepting them.
- You can change your mind at any time.

5.1 The full, up-to-date list of the individual cookies and SDKs we use, including each provider, purpose and duration, is published in the Cookie Settings panel on our website. The strictly necessary cookies we use fall into the following groups:

6. Our Mobile App
6.1 Our app does not use browser cookies in the same way as a website, but it uses SDKs and similar technologies:
- Essential: to sign you in securely, support fingerprint or Face ID login on your device, protect transactions and deliver service notifications through a push token.
- Analytics and crash reporting: to understand how the app is used and fix errors. Non-essential analytics run only with your consent.
- Advertising identifiers: we do not use your device's advertising identifier to track you across other companies' apps or websites. If this changes, we will ask for your permission first, including through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS.
6.2 You can manage app notifications in Notifications and Privacy within the app and in your device settings. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
7. Managing Your Choices
7.1 Cookie banner. When you first visit our website, a banner lets you Accept all, Reject non-essential or Manage preferences by category. Until you choose, only strictly necessary cookies are used.
7.2 Changing your mind. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the website footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect cookies used before you withdrew it.
7.3 Browser settings. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Platform, such as signing in, will not work.
7.4 We keep a record of your choice for 12 months, after which we will ask you again.
8. Third-Party Cookies
8.1 Some cookies are set by our service providers. Their use of information is governed by their own privacy policies. Some of these providers may process information outside Nigeria. Section 7 of our Privacy Policy explains how we protect international transfers.
9. Your Rights
9.1 Where cookies collect personal data, you have the rights described in section 10 of our Privacy Policy, including the right to access, delete and object.
10. Changes to This Policy
10.1 We will update this Policy when we change the technologies we use. If a change requires new consent, we will ask for it through the cookie banner or in the app.
